Thalaiva Rajinikanth turns 73 today as celebratory mood swept across the 4 Southern movie industries. Rajinikanth, widely recognized as Shivaji Rao Gaikwad, has played a significant role in the Tamil film industry, making substantial contributions to its success.

Be it the versatility of his roles or mass appeal, his unique style or acts of social service, not many in the Southern movie industry are able to compete with the following superstar Rajinikanth has built over the decades.

Currently relishing the success of his last blockbuster release Jailer, the movie has gone on to make over 700 crores INR and continues to do good business on OTT platforms.

With a net worth of close to 450 crores INR (as per a Lifestyle Asia report), Rajinikanth’s movie career has spanned across four decades and delivered numerous blockbusters including Bhuvana Oru Kelvi Kuri, Mullum Malarum, ChaalBaaz and Hum.

Numerous stars and admirers have been sending birthday wishes to Thalaiva, sharing exquisite photos and heartfelt video tributes honoring the legend.

Another stalwart of the Southern movie industry Kamal Haasan took to social media platform X to wish Thalaiva on his 73rd birthday. He tweeted in Tamil, which loosely translated to “Happy birthday to my dear friend Superstar @rajinikanth. I sincerely wish you to live a happy life reaping success today and forever.”

Rajinikanth was born into a Marathi family in Bengaluru where he attended the Gavipuram Government Kannada Model Primary School and the Acharya Patasala High School. He was an avid participant in school plays and dramas, which is where his passion for acting developed.

Following his heart, Rajinikanth took up an acting course from the then newly formed Madras Film Institute which introduced him to prominent Tamil film maker K Balachander. After that, there was no turning back and his career rose to legendary heights.

Despite his superstar status, Rajinikanth is known for his humility and down-to-earth nature, which brings him closer to his fans and colleagues alike.

Rajinikanth is all set to share the screen with Amitabh Bachchan in an upcoming project. The movie will be directed by director TJ Gnanavel and this project marks Rajini and Big B’s reunion. Their last joint project was the 1991 film ‘Hum,’ directed by Mukul Anand.
