The US Stock Market observes President’s Day, a federal holiday observed in the United States on the third Monday of February. 

This holiday pays tribute to the nation’s former presidents, notably George Washington, the inaugural president of the United States, whose birthday is on February 22nd

President’s Day is celebrated throughout the country with diverse events such as parades, educational initiatives, and historical reenactments.

US Stock Market Holiday: The US stock markets will be closed today on Monday, February 19th, in observance of George Washington’s birthday, commonly known as “President’s Day.”

On February 19, 2024, both the Nasdaq and the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) will be closed and will resume operations on Tuesday, February 20, 2024. Additionally, the US bond market will also be closed on the same date.

President’s Day, a federal holiday in the United States celebrated on the third Monday of February, pays tribute to the nation’s former presidents, particularly George Washington, the first president of the United States, whose birthday is on February 22nd. 

Initially established in 1885 to honor Washington’s birthday, the holiday has expanded to include Abraham Lincoln, whose birthday is on February 12th, and other presidents. 

This day is marked by various activities nationwide, such as parades, educational programs, and historical reenactments. 

Many government offices, schools, and businesses are closed on President’s Day, allowing people to spend time with loved ones, engage in community activities, or simply unwind.

The US stock markets will be closed on March 29, 2024, in observance of Good Friday.
